Your move to Switzerland

The beautiful Switzerland is a very popular destination for German emigrants. In order to make the move to the country of good chocolate and excellent cheese well, some very important points are essential. In order to provide you with an overview, you will find the most important topics for your move to Switzerland.

The residence permit For stays of more than three months, Switzerland requires a residence permit. The following types are eligible for this title:
SHORT STAY L This residence permit is issued for stays between three months and twelve months. Examples are, for example, foreign semesters in Switzerland or a temporary employment contract (eg seasonal workers in gastronomy). The prerequisite for this residence permit is the submission of a fixed-term contract (three to twelve months). Students or job seekers must be able to prove that you can provide for your livelihood even without employment.

If a stay of more than 12 months is planned in Switzerland, an application for the so-called Residence Permit B must be submitted. The validity is five years. The prerequisites include an employment contract for at least one year or indefinite or sufficient capital to get around even without a monthly income.

DECLARATION OF APPROVAL C After a stay of at least five years, the so-called C permit may be applied for. This authorization grants a permanent right of residence in Switzerland, without further restrictions / conditions. The certificate of establishment is not limited in duration.

In principle, German emigrants are welcome in Switzerland. It should be noted that the application for a residence permit can lead to problems if the applicant has a criminal record, can not submit a contract of employment or does not have sufficient funds to cover his or her livelihood.

The customs - what should be observed when entering?

Household goods can only be introduced if there is a place of residence in Switzerland. If you are planning to stay in a pension for the first few weeks to find a new family home, you have to make up your household.

If a residence is available, the complete household items can be imported. It is important to note that all items must be owned and owned for at least six months and that they should continue to be used. Upon entry, the customs must be provided with the form 18.44 - Deported goods. In addition, a lease or contract of employment must be provided for proof of the residence permit. Customs also require an inventory list on household items.

Anyone who is now sweating with the word "Inventarliste", taking into account the wealth of his house council, can be reassured. It is not necessary to name each part individually on this list. Especially for small parts the upper term and the number is sufficient.

ATTENTION: If objects are introduced which are not related to household items, they must also be indicated and duly declared!

Moving with your own car

If the private car has already been owned by the emigrant for more than six months, this is counted as household items and must be indicated there on the inventory list. Proof of possession for at least six months is the purchase contract. (Please note that you are not yet six months in your possession!)

Registration for the car in Switzerland takes one year. The confirmation of the duty to be given at the time of importation must be presented.

The German driving license is also valid for one year in Switzerland. During this period a Swiss driving license must be applied for. A new test is not required. The application is purely formal and the new license is issued for a fee.
